Recently, I purchased a Lunchables package for lunch. Unfortunately, the shelf life of the water inside of the package had expired, ...and based on the shelf life listed on the package, the water had been expired weeks or months before it was packaged. (Lunchable package shelf life = 12 Dec 2011, the water "best by" = 08-21-11.) This was reported to Oscar Mayer , but the generic "sorry it did not meet your expectations" form letter as a response for expired product contained in a food package was way off base. Granted, you do need to keep costs down, but using expired product is not a good way to do this.
